We believe in female founders. We believe teams including female founders perform better. We believe there is huge potential for more female founders to scale their companies internationally.
In 2018, our AccelerateHER Award winners accessed an incredible top-level week, with the female founders accessing trade missions to Dubai and California – resulting in new investment, extensive new business and a much extended network of top industry leaders and finance community ‘shakers and movers’.
We are widening our international opportunities for AccelerateHER winners in 2019. Prizes are a free place on one of our International Trade Mission, in Europe, North America or the Middle East, as well as priceless experiences in connections, confidence building, industry contacts, potential financiers and learning.
The 2019 AccelerateHER Award is open to any female founder with international growth aspirations. You also need to be a UK registered company with a Scottish trading base. In addition to potentially accessing these unique market and finance building opportunities; this is also a fantastic opportunity for growth aspiring businesswomen to showcase their companies before an audience in Scotland which includes angel investors, commercial advisers and fellow entrepreneurs. The competition gives participants an ideal platform for attracting business angel investment which the majority of our finalists to date have actually done!
This year, we’ll also be identifying a ‘Rising Star’, for a Female Founder with great ideas, whose business shows great potential but may not yet be ready to accelerate growth. We particularly want as many women as possible with growth aspiration to enter the AccelerateHER Awards, even if their business is at concept stage, hence the Rising Star award – because the sky’s no longer the limit!
Based on the unprecedented success of the AccelerateHER Awards to date this is the fourth year the Awards have been run by Investing Women; Scotland’s all female business angel group.
Entrants will initially be asked to submit a video pitch via the Investing Women’s website outlining their business, its ambitions, growth plans and investor potential.
A panel of highly experienced judges will then review the submissions and draw up a shortlist of 12-15 entrants who will present to a panel on March 20th 2019 at Skyscanner, Edinburgh. From there, approx. 9 finalists will be invited to the Final in May (date T.B.C.).
Finalists will also be able to showcase their business at the AccelerateHER Conference: The Sky’s No Longer the Limit (23rd April) with a short video profile screened to a wide audience of UK-wide investors, entrepreneurs and professionals.
